HISTORY
SLOFAST was founded December 2024 by a group of local shooting sports enthusiasts. Seeing the mismanagement of the range by the previous management organization, SLOFAST was established to step up to reopen and “Save” the San Luis Obispo Wildlife Area Shooting Range for future generations to come. Formed as a Public Benefit California 501(c)(3) nonprofit, SLOFAST is dedicated to safe, compliant, and community-driven range operations.
STRUCTURE
We have a clear, transparent governance where no board member may benefit financially from range operations, where all roles are clearly defined, without dual responsibilities, and the proper controls to ensure mistakes of the past do not repeat.
Our leadership team includes experts from a diverse array of backgrounds. Range safety, law enforcement, finance, medicine, IT, and compliance.
APPROACH
SLOFAST is built on transparency, collaboration, and community engagement through open dialog and committees. Our focus is safety, education, and environmental stewardship in full alignment with CDFW’s mission while building a strong foundation to preserve and promote shooting and archery activities for future generations.
